(Jyllinge, Denmark) AddiFab is proud to announce that we have become a supplier to the world-renowned Fraunhofer IKTS institute in Dresden, Germany. The Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS conducts applied research on high-performance ceramics, and is part of Europe‘s largest R&D institute dedicated to the study of ceramics.
Additive manufacturing of metal and ceramic objects is one of the key IKTS areas of expertise, and the institute has deep knowledge in the development and implementation of novel materials and processes for additive manufacturing. “We have been deeply impressed with the very high level of innovation conducted at Fraunhofer IKTS, and it is an honor for AddiFab to have been now chosen as a supplier of an additive system”, says Lasse Staal, CEO of AddiFab. “The AddiFab systems are based on an open-materials philosophy, and I am happy to see Fraunhofer taking our printers into new applications in the ceramic field”.

The machine that Fraunhofer has purchased is an AddiFab AFU5. This machine is optimized for Freeform Injection Molding and other advanced low-volume applications. It integrates seamlessly with other industrial equipment and is compatible with AddiFab tooling materials as well as other photopolymers. Through the elimination of expensive and time-consuming toolmaking, it is now possible to economically manufacture printed and injection-molded prototypes and small batches in high-performance materials.
